无常 Capriciousness

"天要下雨, 娘要嫁人", 我们无能为力.

"千金难买早知道, 万金难买后悔药", 我们知道, 却常忘记.

"人来到这世上时都有顺序, 但离开的时候是不分先后的", 是残酷的事实.

"在的时候对我好, 所以要对我好", 是真实的忠告.

'Huat' ah!!! 发啊!!!

Can guess what is in the pix?

Yup, you are right if you say it is a 'fa gao'. I took these pix yesterday when my mum wanted to throw it away as she was cleaning up the altar outside.

But notice the lop-sided disproportions? Nothing to do with poor angle shooting.

This is the work of 2 birds (don't know the species but definitely no sparrows, pigeons, crows or other common neighbourhood birds). No colourful feathers but still quite pretty.

It started with one flying in one day last week and began feeding on the cake. Then a few days later, it brought company and the two of them would start pecking on their new-found feed. Sometimes, they would come a few times in a day, I thought the 'fa gao' would have been reduced to bits and pieces after so many days. So I was quite surprised to see that the parts they fed on were actually so r o u n d in the end.

I had wanted to take a photo or video shoot of the lovebirds (presumably...) but they were simply too alert. Every time I close up on them, at least one of them would sense me approaching (no matter how I tried to tiptoe or walk in slow motion) and took off immediately with the other.

But they have stopped coming the past few days :( Maybe they've grown sick of the food.

So, the moral of the story: Who says birds are dumb? Next time, think twice before you scold someone 'bird-brained' :P
