Life's Like Dat 生活就是这样

It's been a long time. The time lapses between my entries seem to be getting longer.
Not that I'm getting too lazy to scribble here. It's just that there seems to be lesser joy in my life to share.

No doubt I lost some weight and my eyesight had improved over the past few years, and found out recently I'm still growing in height. But my worst-feared nightmare still returned to haunt me. And of all days, it came back with a vengeance on April's Fool this year. Dunno when I can be rid of it once and for all.

Last Sunday, I was supposed to attend the celebration of Leo's month-old baby or go tomb-sweeping. But eventually, I didn't go anywhere but stayed at home with my cousin who's also feeling under the weather.

Later that day, we got a phone call that brought the news of a passing on of yet another close relative. It was another sister of Mum's, and the second one within the last ten months. I didn't go to the wake this time round, as I'm still not mentally prepared to send another relative off so soon, even though our relationship has been distraught the last few years.

Moving on to something lighter, I got a relief teaching assignment at a primary school in Woodlands on Tuesday. Though it started on an ad-hoc basis, it came to last 4 days. YES, it's a bit far from where I stayed -- about an hour's travelling time. YES, it's not what I had initially wanted -- teaching at secondary level. But it was not exactly nightmarish either.

I taught Primary 1 & 2 kids, covering for most subjects. I admit I have a lot to learn about classroom management. But luckily most of the kids were not that out-of-control, less 1 "gee-na" who almost made me lose it in barely the half-an-hour I was supposed to stand in. YES, my patience is really as thin as paper. Stamped, chopped, guaranteed!!!

But the rest of them are still adorable in general, while some of their mischievous ways and funny lines of thoughts can really drive you nuts. HAHA!!! Thank God for the other teachers who dropped some really helpful words of wisdom and lent their helping hands when I needed them.

One really, really memorable event that transpired was a conversation which transpired between a parent and I. She appeared at the classroom door on Thursday afternoon, with her child was just standing beside her. She said she had brought her son to the doctor's and he was given a 2 days's MC. However, as her son is a slow learner and she herself is blind in one eye and only attended Primary 1 in school, she'd like to inform the form teacher of this and that the son can get some special coaching when he returns to class, so that he will not fall behind too much, especially since the exams are just around the corner. I told her I was only a relief teacher but I would pass the message to the form teacher. What she said me really touched me. I thought it was a bit "drama" 'coz I didn't think I would come across such cases in my very short teaching experience.
